Reading, Listening, Recommending

Okay, I missed yesterday, but I am determined to keep this up. Here’s today’s three:

  1. If you’ve been with me long you may remember my post about how my mind flits from one thing to another.
Case in point: The Vladimir book I mentioned a while back. I was loving that book. And I got sidetracked onto another book and whoa…what happened. I need to pick it up again. Hmm. Maybe after Darwinia, which I picked up at the used bookstore because I liked the blurb. After that maybe Vladimir.
  2. I’m listening to Andrew Bird’s Bowl of Fire as I write this. This is great disc. It’s a little like Squirrel Nut Zippers, but more and less so. (Figure that one out!) You can hear some samples at emusic. I wish I knew more stuff like this. Traditional jazz with fiddles and guitars and banjos. Yay!
  3. I previewed Anne Rice’s book Christ The Lord a while back. After reading I must say I am really impressed. She does a splendid job of handling the question of Christ’s Divinity and Self-knowledge. (Did the 8 year-old Jesus know Whe He was?) I would recommend this book wholeheartedly. The story is told entirely from Jesus’s eyes in a fairly informal tone.

Glad to hear your good review of “Christ the Lord”. I’d like to read it.

I’m most interested in reading the “Vladimir” book, though.

I’m going to Powells tomorrow, maybe I’ll see if they have it.

Ok, I just remembered I have a B&N gift card, so the “Vladimir” book is now on the way to my house.
