The Future of MZSFR is bright.
In my Editor's notes, I mention changing formats and frequencey of publilcation. That was written after a lot of hard thinking and reflecting. Then we printed and bound issue 2. Wow, what a difference, I thought. We can keep doing this by hand, I realized. At least for now. And that's a good thing because I like hand binding the journal.
As for frequency...I honestly believe we will get one more issue out this year. Although a lot depends on submissions, Mike and I would both prefer three issues a year. We'll see.
If this all seems wishy-washy, I apologize. We've made some decisions that have forced us to be unsure about the future. We have no adverstizements. And wont. If Mount Zion Press ever publishes something with ads it wont be MZSFR. MZSFR is and will remain an academic-style literary journal. We also are a small niche market. Many readers have told us they appreciate the focus of MZSFR and we aim to keep it. These two prinicples (no ads and tight focus) mean that money is had to mouth and submissions are thin.
If you want to help there are two things (at least) you can do. First, encourage people to check out MZSFR. All our revenue comes from sales. Before we can increase contributor pay we must increase sales. Secondly, encourage writers to subit. Yeah the pay is low, but think of the prestige! <g> The more submisisons we get the more regularly we can publish.

New edition looks very good. Are you sending copies out to reviewers? I remember reading an online review of your first edition.

Hi guys,
Received my contributor copy over the pond here in the UK today for my RESTROOM story!
Loved the professional feel and shine of the cover and enjoyed its ad-free interior. Excellent job.
Also loved the dollar bill! The first damn money I have earnt thru my crappy writing!! Gonna get it framed.
Thanks again. Mucho appreciated. Good luck for the future with your revised format
Dave
